BOGOR, INDONESIA. The ASEAN Working Group on Social Forestry (AWG-SF) Strategic Response Fund [ASRF] of the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) joins the ASEAN Team Review Meeting for the draft of the Multi-sectoral Framework on Climate Change and Food Security towards 2020 on 27 to 28 April 2017 in Bogor, Indonesia. The ASRF is a project under the ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change (ASFCC) III.

The ASFCC, through SEARCA and AWG-SF Secretariat under the guidance of the ASFCC Senior Adviser Dr. Doris Capistrano, is tasked to develop the conceptual framework for the ASEAN Multi-sectoral Framework on Climate Change: Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry towards Food Security (AFCC). The conceptual framework is meant to guide the development of Component 4: Comprehensive Multi-sectoral Strategic Framework and Roadmap for 2020 and Beyond. It is expected to facilitate dialogue and enhance collaboration across the different sectoral bodies under the ASEAN Socio-cultural Community Pillar and various working groups dealing with the management and response to climate change-related disasters, emergency food assistance, and rapid response mechanisms.

SEARCA, through Dr. Juan M. Pulhin as Team Leader and Ms. Millicent Joyce Q. Pangilinan as Technical assistant will present the first draft of the proposed multi-sectoral framework during the meeting.

The review of the draft framework, organized by the ASEAN Working Group on Social Forestry Secretariat, will be attended by the Ad-Hoc Steering Committee on Climate Change and Food Security (AHSC-CCFS), ASFCC partners, and other relevant organizations. Results of the review will aid in the preparation of the final draft that will eventually be endorsed by relevant ASEAN bodies.
