The newly-launched Master of Science in Food Security and Climate Change (MSFSCC) is currently accepting applications until 2 June 2017.
SEARCA is a partner to the MSFSCC, a joint degree partially funded by the European Commission's ERASMUS + Capacity Building for Higher Education, and offered by the five members of the Southeast Asian University Consortium for Graduate Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC), namely: Kasetsart University (KU) in Thailand, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Malaysia, the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) in the Philippines, Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), both in Indonesia.
The program involves a compulsory mobility in two universities, where the student will gain academic credits and conduct research. MSFSCC students will also attend summer schools that will serve as enhancement courses for the program. The first summer school aptly titled Sustainable Transitions with focus on Integrated Farming System: A Transition to Food Security in a Changing Climate will be held on 10-28 July 2017 in Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Excellent students also have a chance to go on mobility to the EU partners, namely: Montpellier SupAgro in France, Gottingen University in Germany, and BOKU in Austria.
It is envisaged that MSFSCC graduates will have key roles in policy making, research, academe, and development work to address food security and climate change in the region.
